The (then) Margaret River Junior Soccer club was formed in 1986 by two life members of the club, Bruno Hangartner and Eddie Kaleta. Bruno and Eddie had a passion for the world game and also wanted their sons to play and so a Club was formed and joined the Leeuwin Naturalist Junior Soccer Association.
In 2003, junior and seniors combined to form Football Margaret River or FMR. And in 2016, Football Margaret River celebrated its 30th anniversary!
Soccer is played at Western Oval in Gloucester Park, Margaret River and from its humble beginnings of only 1 team in the Club, now averages 18-20 teams per season – with boys, girls and mixed teams.
Together with the Shire, FMR are currently re-developing the lower Western Oval into a main floodlight area and pitch, which will be on line hopefully by the 2019 Season.
