Vasse Ravens win Cup for second year!

Vasse Ravens 2 v Margaret River Jedis 1

On a cloudy day the sun shone once more on the Ravens as they went head to head with the Margaret River Breakers in the Cup Final on Saturday.

The Breakers had beaten the Margaret River Jedis; whom are higher on the league table, in an earlier round to put them into the finals, however the Ravens were well prepared for a tough encounter no matter what team they had to face.

An early goal for the Ravens came from Elisha Saltarini putting her team a step closer to winning the Cup. Some great passing between the team later in the first half saw another goal to the Ravens with a great finish by Rebecca Williams.

In the second half the Ravens started strongly and had several chances of scoring , however it was one of the Breakers’ girls that did a solo run from midfield to eventually score putting her team back into contention. Both teams fought on courageously, however the Ravens were not going to let the Cup slip from their hands and were eventual winners on the day with a final score of 2-1.

Congratulations to all the 16 team players whom have had a magnificent season winning both the Youth League Title and Cup Final.

Kelli Cockman was again outstanding in her role as sweeper and earned her the Player of the Day by the referee.

Brooke O’Connor was awarded Fairest & Best by the LNJSA for the league and was a well deserved winner of the Golden Boot.

Presentations for the Vasse Youth League Girls were held on Saturday night. The Coaches Award was presented to Bonnie Fraser, Runners up Fairest & Best went to Maddee Rice and Fairest & Best went to Bonny Berridge.
