Tough Test For Rovers

Cornerstone Braves v FMR Rovers

FMR Rovers played Cornerstone Braves on Saturday in Busselton in what was a tough test for the Rovers.

Rovers defence worked hard but struggled to get the ball past the Braves who were well organised in midfield making strong tackles and passing well. Despite some great saves by goalie Oliver Finch Clarke the Braves were 2-0 up by half time.

In the second half the Braves continued to press forward finding the net twice more before the Rovers began to find their mojo.

Great awareness and accurate passing between Ben Cox and Chips Best set the tone for the Rovers and their confidence began to grow. Finlay Angove's quick response to a mistake by the Braves goalie led to the Rovers first goal, and soon after the entire Rovers team were involved in the build up to the second goal scored by Oliver.

The Rovers showed character and kept their heads up throughout. It was a real team effort.

Players of the day awards went to Scooter Liew for several outstanding saves in goal and to Monique Armstrong for her persistence in defence.
