Dunsborough Terminators too Strong for the FMR Raiders

FMR Raiders 2 v Dunsborough Terminators 3

With World Cup fever in full swing the FMR Raiders and Dunsborough Terminators played out a fantastic spirited and skilful game on Saturday morning.

Dunsborough set about asserting themselves early with their tall timber dominating the air early on, but it didn’t take long for the FMR boys to settle into the game ,playing in more familiar roles and making themselves accountable.

The Raiders backline made some great challenges and were holding shape well being led by Alister White and Noah Cummins through the middle.

Tom Leighton and Dodi Anderson , having his best game of the season , played confident simple football in their respective right and left back positions.

Dunsborough , with some very strong footed players , got the breakthrough with a powerfully taken strike from their centre half. A well taken goal , applauded by all.

Raiders responded immediately with a six pass move that started in the backline and ended with the shot coming off the cross bar , so unlucky.

But persistence paid off when Liam Mattinson taking a shot from outside the area, saw his shot fumbled by the keeper and roll over the line to equalise.

Half time had the Raiders full of confidence believing they could get something from this game .

Dunsborough obviously had the same intentions with both teams playing out a great second half.

Kilburn Booth worked his socks off in midfield as were Brenton Tebbutt at right wing , Jye Halsall at left half .

But unfortunately this couldn’t stop the Terminators taking the lead and then getting another goal to make it 3-1.

But with 5 minutes left Kilburn Booth asked to go up front . He took his chance and broke through to beat the Dunsborough keeper and score a beautiful goal making for some nervous moments with minutes remaining.

It wasn’t to be for FMR as the whistle blew and Dunsborough had won 3-2, but they can take pride in not giving up and battling hard against tough opposition.

Well done to both teams for putting on a great performance.

Dodi Anderson received the FMR Players Award for his solid game at left back.
