Dunsborough Raiders 0 v FMR Raiders 3
FMR Raiders headed north on Saturday to play their Dunsborough namesake in the battle of the Raiders.
With a strong wind blowing end to end the order of the day was to keep the ball on the ground and make your passes count.
FMR began well and set about asserting themselves early with Captain Kilburn Booth and Noah Cummins working hard around central midfield.
FMR took the lead through Donnie Longmore in the first 5 minutes with a nice turn and first time shot into the bottom left corner.
The game then opened up with end to end football resulting in both teams having good chances and being unlucky not to score.
Nick Gaman playing as central striker was showing great form and strength up front and was dually rewarded with a thunderous strike into the back of the net to make the lead 2-nil at the break.
The FMR boys were asked to give each other space, hold position and generally lift the intensity around the pitch. The Dunsborough coach must have asked the same of his team as the second half proved to be a close affair.
The FMR backline held firm with Dodi Anderson, Tom Leighton and Alistar White all delivering telling taclkles.
Pascoe Paice ,having his best game of the season , showed great spirit up front but it was a moment of fantastic skill that sealed the game for the Margaret River boys.
Brenton Tebbutt received a long cross , controlled the ball on his chest then with poise, hit a first time volley to make it 3-nil. A Beautiful Goal.
The game was played in great spirit amongst windy and testy conditions .
Kilburn Booth earned “Man of the Match” for a great performance in the midfield.
