Football Margaret River Raiders 2 v GMAS Blues 1

In what was the billed as the Biggest Weekend of the Clubs History Football Margaret River Raiders held off a strong finishing GMAS Blues to win the Knockout Cup Final 2-1 on Saturday and take out the Under 13 League and Cup Double

Both teams were playing in front of the largest crowd they had seen, and really put on a show leaving no spectator disappointed

The first half was an end to end affair with both defences holding out some serious attacks . Midway through the first half Raiders won a penalty from a well worked corner from Brenton Tebbutt , which saw Nick Gaman brought down in the box.

Donnie Longmore stepped up and drilled the spot kick home to give the Raiders the advantage . The boys from Margaret River were throwing everything at GMAS in a push for a second with Ethan Hamilton coming close hitting the bar from a header and the GMAS keeper making some fine saves.

Raiders keeper Jykia River was also having a great game between the sticks also pulling off some fine saves.

Then unfortunately Brenton went down with a what seemed a serious knee injury and was unable to return to the pitch .

Raiders made a few position changes and kept up the pressure until half time.

Second half was all about finishing what they had started , play smart and try to get another goal.

Raiders then won a corner . Liam Mattinson sent a beautiful ball to the back post which was met by a rising Noah Cummins who delivered a powerful header into the net. What a goal!!! The crowd were on there feet.

This motivated the GMAS team as they began to put on some serious pressure. They were dually rewarded with a goal from well taken strike from outside the box.

This made for some very tense final few minutes with two shots hitting the crossbar and some game saving tackles from the Raiders defense led by Captain Alister White .The whistle went and Raiders had won capping off their stellar season .

It was a another massive TEAM performance with all players playing their heart and souls out.

A big Thankyou to GMAS for making it such a classic final.....
