FMR Raiders Continue the Great Form

FMR Raiders 4 v GMAS Blues 0

FMR Raiders ran out 4-0 winners on Saturday against a determined GMAS team in testing muddy conditions.

Raiders needed a win to keep them on top spot of the U/13 League and were keen to show why they are the Ladder leaders.

Within 30 seconds of kick off Raiders had the lead thanks to a searching ball out wide to

Donnie Longmore ,then crossing to Nick Gaman , who drove low into the net.

Nick then set up Donnie , who himself scored with a curling shot into the top corner.

With the Raiders momentum building ,the combination of Brenton Tebbutt , Jye Halsall and Tom Leighton on the right side was really beginning to click as it has done most of the season, with great passing and confidence on the ball, they were able to make some great runs at the GMAS defence.

This passage of play brought centre forward Ethan Hamilton in to the game with some great attempts at one touch football and quick passing.

GMAS begin to really push on the Raiders backline with their fast attack and managed to break through but were stopped by a physical Jykia River in goals , unfortunately receiving a yellow card and giving away a free kick on the edge of the box for his challenge.

Luckily GMAS sent the shot wide.

Second half was about keeping up the intensity , hold possession and to continue to play good football.

Raiders did as asked , notably Alister White leading the charge in the backline, showing how well he reads the game.

Then came the Goal of the Game .Noah Cummins won the ball in his own half , pushed forward and sent through a lovely pass to Brenton, who split the defence with his driving cross into the box which was met by an advancing Donnie. Great team goal!!

Raiders then won a free kick outside the box. Nick took the kick and scored with a fierce shot into the left hand side of net.4-0 to the Margaret River boys.

Liam Mattinson and Jasper Seisun both had solid games on the left with some great overlapping runs one late in the game to Jasper , who was unlucky not to score himself .

Overall great performances from all Raiders players. Well done

The players award went to Ethan Hamilton for a great game and showing continued improvement week to week .
