FMR Gremlins v LNJSA Arrested Development
We faced up against the Development boys with only 10 players, due to illnesses & holidays. It was clear LNJSA were an extremely organised squad, with skill & pace right across the pitch. From the start they started applying the pressure and we were forced to play a defensive first half. LNJSA played some neat, fast one touch football and had us pinned in our own half, forcing some great saves from Josh. Our defence worked tirelessly but eventually LNJSA were rewarded for their efforts when Josh saved the first strike which rebounded and was calmly slotted home.
For the remainder of the first half LNJSA continued to press us, but the Gremlins held them out.
FMR Gremlins 0-1 LNJSA
The second half started as the first finished with us on the back foot. Although the Gremlins did played some superb football through the middle third, but definitely missed that extra player on the pitch, as every time we did break into their final third Noah who did a fantastic job found himself outnumbered.
10 minutes in, we lost Oscar who took a ball in the eye and had to leave the pitch, which left us with 9. Somehow these 9 gremlins continued to deny the constant pressure from LNJSA who could not find the target, and when they did, Josh safely got his hands on the ball.
Oscar bravely returned to the pitch & you could almost hear the sigh of relief from the rest of the team.
With 5 to go the Gremlins seemed to find another gear and broke out of our half, and found areas to pressure LNJSA and it was Oscar who got the equaliser with a wonderful strike from way outside the box and beat the keeper. A fitting result for an outnumbered team who fought with every thing they had in the tank
FMR Gremlins 1-1 LNJSA
It was a gritty performance from the Gremlins who failed to give in and did not stop running the whole game. It was one of those games that give you goosebumps and makes your heart swell with pride. Well done Gremlins ️️
